The Overcomers are a group of young adults who are called to be effective young disciples for Christ by developing and implementing a comprehensive approach to youth ministry in the areas of group building, worship, discipleship, mission, and outreach.

When GPT CC branched out from the mother church in 2007, then GPT Ngong Road, some members volunteered to be part of the new congregation. Among them were singles from the main church, including one of the GPT Ngong road’s singles’ group leader – Wallace. They came together and formed a singles group in GPT CC while small, was extremely vibrant and active. Before we had zones and life group cells - Overcomers formed the first groups based on where members lived and began visiting each other for fellowship and “swallowship.” The name ‘Overcomers’ was agreed on during one of the outings on the basis of several scriptures:

In the book of 1 John 2:13-14, he writes to young people and says:

… I write to you, young men, because you have overcome the wicked one. … I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the wicked one.

John demystifies further in 1 John 5:4 and says:

...For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world -- our faith.

Colossians 1:9-10 puts it this way:

...And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.

Finally, Overcomers were determined to make a difference on the 0 of 1 Timothy 4:12 which states:

...Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

These scriptures still form part of our mission and vision.

Our vision is to be an effective and vibrant youth ministry that will lay a solid foundation of Biblical truth for the rest of the Overcomer’s life.

Our mission is that every Overcomer will live a life pleasing to the Lord, walking according to His ways, bearing fruit in their life, and growing in their love and knowledge of Him ~ Colossians 1:9-10

As a youth group, we strive to discover our spiritual gifting and abilities and in-turn use them to serve the church and advance the gospel to the young generation who are within our reach.

We meet quarterly for planned activities in our annual calendar and monthly as part of the church calendar.

These activities are:

• Forums with our pastor.
• School and hospital missions.
• Outreach and retreats.
• Camping
• Evangelism
• Fellowship
• Attend mentorship programs led by EAGLES and WINGS
